Monthly expense budget calculator
Business bills arrive weekly, monthly, quarterly and once a year. List each one with how often you pay it and see what they cost per month, per year, and how much you need to sell to cover them. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
| Expense | Amount ($) | How often | Per month |

Per month: weekly × 52 ÷ 12, quarterly ÷ 3, yearly ÷ 12. Gross margin = (sales − cost of goods) ÷ sales; use the margin calculator to work yours out. The prefilled numbers are a made-up worked example, not typical figures: replace them with your own.
How it works
Monthly amount = weekly × 52 ÷ 12, monthly × 1, quarterly ÷ 3 or yearly ÷ 12. Monthly budget = sum of the monthly amounts. Sales needed = (monthly budget + profit you want) ÷ gross margin.
Worked example (the values above): rent $1,100.00, phone and internet $85.00, software $39.00 and marketing $200.00 are monthly. Insurance of $960.00 a year is $80.00 a month, the accountant's $450.00 a quarter is $150.00 a month and $60.00 of fuel a week is $60.00 × 52 ÷ 12 = $260.00 a month. Together that is $1,914.00 a month or $22,968.00 a year, and rent is the biggest line at 57.5%. At a 40% gross margin you need $1,914.00 ÷ 0.40 = $4,785.00 of sales a month just to cover these costs, and ($1,914.00 + $1,000.00) ÷ 0.40 = $7,285.00 to also make $1,000.00 profit.
